The Families First Service

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

Keeping Staffordshire’s children and families safe and well is a county council priority.

We’ve recently reorganised the children’s services we provide so that it is easier for children’s service professionals with different skills to work together, identify family needs early and stop them getting worse.

Our new Families First Service is about delivering the right help at the right time in the right way so that Staffordshire’s children, young people and families have the best possible outcomes in life.

You can find out more about the Families First service at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/familiesfirstpartners

How to get support from the Families First Service

So that any enquiry or request for support can be dealt with as safely and as quickly as possible, please encourage people in your organisation to think about the nature of their concern before they get in touch.

If your call is about…

If you don’t have the name of the person you need, then please call the team covering the service user’s local area who will be able to help you. Contact details are available on the Families First partner web pages.

First Response Service and the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)

The county council’s First Response Service is part of a new and innovative development called the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

The MASH brings together people from police, health services and local authorities so that they can share information and take a better informed decision over the best course of action.

Getting the necessary consent

Before asking for support, you’ll need to ensure that you have the permission of a parent (or the child’s where appropriate), unless permission-seeking may place the child at increased risk of suffering significant harm.

We all have a part to play in keeping Staffordshire’s children and families safe. Please ensure that you share this information with any member of staff or volunteer who comes into contact with Staffordshire’s families as part of their day job.
