SCIO has developed a programme of activity and resources to promote and support good practice in volunteer management across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. Based on the outcomes of a needs analysis survey of volunteer managers in July 2009, which identified training and support needs, barriers to accessing training/support and preferred means of engaging with training and support, the programme will provide a range of support, including:

• A series of networking sessions, incorporating 36 bite-size workshops on volunteer management good practice themes, to be delivered throughout Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent
• A suite of good practice materials to be used in conjunction with the workshops, or as stand alone good practice guides
• A dedicated area of the SCIO website providing information on support services for volunteer managers, access to good practice materials and detailing networking and training events.

The project is will be launched in February 2010.
